DESCRIPTION: The Qashqai are the largest and best known rugs of Iran’s nomadic tribes. They weave several types of rugs but common characteristics include all-wool construction and heavy ribbing on the reverse. Qashqai usually have geometric patterns repeated along the borders or as filler ornaments, particularly figures of animals or traditional motifs such as the ‘Hershang’ or crab or floral designs. The main colour used in Qashqai is red, adopted in very strong and deep tonalities. These rugs are very heavy duty and perfect for busy areas of the house where most daily activities take place. .
